Michigan Hosts 2018 Powerhockey Cup

The Michigan Mustangs along with the Wheelchair Hockey League brought the 2018 Powerhockey Cup tournament to Michigan for the first time. The event was held July 10-13th at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI. The tournament featured five teams that included: Minnesota Saints, Ottawa Capitals, Toronto Rock, Philadelphia Flyers PowerPlay and Michigan Mustangs.

Despite finishing round robin play in fourth place the Minnesota Saints had every intention of winning their fifth consecutive Powerhockey Cup but unfortunately that dream was quickly diminished by a talented Philadelphia team who finished round robin play undefeated. The Mustangs were able to overcome a third place finish and defeat a very fast Toronto team to advance to the championship game.

The matchup was set and 2018 was going to crown an organization champions for the very first time. Would it be the City of Brotherly Love? Or The Motor City? Philadelphia proved to be too tough a task as the Mustangs fell short of winning their first Powerhockey Cup on home soil.
